CNN —The first production Tesla Cybertruck is expected to be delivered today – finally – four years after it was first unveiled. Stellantis’s Ram 1500 Rev electric truck will also go into production in late 2024. The Cybertruck is less than 19 feet long, according to Tesla, which is slightly shorter than other full-size trucks. Ample functional front space has been a big selling point for the Ford truck, in particular. That truck is claimed to provide up to 14,000 pounds of towing, the same figure Tesla originally claimed at the Cybertruck’s unveiling.

New York CNN —Elon Musk, in his first interview with mainstream media since his antisemitic post on X earlier this month, apologized Wednesday for what he called his “dumbest” ever social media post. “I don’t want them to advertise,” he said at the New York Times DealBook Summit in New York. Musk made the remarks as the X CEO, Linda Yaccarino, sat in the audience. In a meandering conversation that lasted well over an hour, Musk also said he has no problem being hated. I’d love to help.”But in a separate conversation at the DealBook Summit, Herzog appeared uncertain that Musk would remain consistant in his messaging.

Washington CNN —Elon Musk is an increasingly important player in global affairs and has been touring the world to meet with political leaders in recent months. “We can observe Elon Musk’s Twitter/X activity that he regularly consumes right-wing content and this increased during COVID-19,” Facciani said in an email. More recently, however, Musk’s ambitions have come a bit closer to earth and become far more concrete. There are many world leaders who hold extreme or far-right views, of course. Musk’s outbursts that contradict widely held international norms and values are meant for a specific internet audience that Musk mistakes for being representative of the wider world.

IBM, NBCUniversal and its parent company Comcast said last week that they stopped advertising on X after the Media Matters report said their ads were appearing alongside material praising Nazis. The Media Matters report pointed to ads from Apple and Oracle that also were placed next to antisemitic material on X. It says Media Matters did this by using X accounts that just followed X users known to produce “extreme fringe content” and accounts owned by X’s major advertisers. This, the complaint says, led to a feed aimed at producing side-by-side placements that Media Matters could then screen shot in an effort to alienate X's advertisers. Media Matters said Monday that it stands by its reporting and expects to prevail in court.

(In response, Musk threatened a “thermonuclear” lawsuit, but as of this writing does not appear to have filed one.) Abhorrence of the Jewish state slips easily into abhorrence of Jews. On the right, though, there’s a mirror image of this slippage, with some defenders of the Jewish state willing to make excuses for antisemites so long as they champion Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel has regularly embraced nationalist leaders who deploy antisemitic tropes, Donald Trump chief among them. It’s hard to figure out who is behaving more cynically, Musk or the Jewish leaders who are koshering him.

New York CNN —Elon Musk on Monday boosted the dangerous, years-old “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, just days after being roundly criticized and facing an advertiser exodus following his embrace of an antisemitic conspiracy theory. Musk last week faced backlash from the White House and others for engaging with an antisemitic conspiracy theory. Musk’s company has also claimed that Media Matters’ report was misleading and that it has taken steps to combat antisemitism and discrimination on the platform. X on Monday sued Media Matters, accusing it of distorting how likely it is for ads to appear beside extremist content on X. However, X has not removed the pro-Nazi accounts mentioned in Media Matters’ report, instead saying that their posts had little engagement and that they would no longer be eligible for monetization.

The lies and taunts, which Musk engaged with on social media, turned his life upside down, Brody said. Brody filed a defamation lawsuit last month against Musk, the owner of X, formerly known as Twitter. Online conspiracy theorists soon jumped into the fray. IBM has stopped advertising on social media platform X after a report said its ads were appearing alongside material praising Adolf Hitler and Nazis — a fresh setback as the site formerly known as Twitter tries to win back big brands and their ad dollars. The U.S. tech company made the decision after a report Thursday by the liberal advocacy group Media Matters said ads from IBM, Apple, Oracle, NBCUniversal's Bravo network and Comcast were placed next to antisemitic material on X. “IBM has zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination and we have immediately suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this entirely unacceptable situation," the company said in a terse statement. “When it comes to this platform — X has also been extremely clear about our efforts to combat antisemitism and discrimination. The accounts that Media Matters found posting antisemitic material will no longer be monetizable and that the specific posts will be labeled “sensitive media," according to a statement from X on Friday.

CNN —After months of rebuilding and clearing red tape following the April explosion of the Starship system’s first test flight, SpaceX is set for its next attempt. After its fuel is spent, the Super Heavy will detach from the Starship spacecraft and fall back toward the ocean. “These delays may seem small in the big scheme of things but … delays in each and every test flight adds up. NEW YORK, Nov 6 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Elon Musk does well when his back is against the wall. His investment in X now fills the longshot role, which leaves him little to lose. Grok, as it is called, has “real-time access to info via the X platform,” Musk noted in a post, which gives it a “massive advantage” over other AI models. Although the product is still being tested, Musk says it already can out-compute OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and Meta Platforms' (META.O) Llama 2. X may be near, or already has hit, rock bottom, right where Musk often does his best work.

Elon Musk has announced the introduction of “Grok,” an artificially intelligent chatbot, for some users of X, which the billionaire suggests has a sarcastic sense of humor similar to his own. Musk’s AI startup, xAI, which developed the bot, said in a blogpost that it took inspiration from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, a comedy sci-fi novel by British author Douglas Adams. Grok “loves sarcasm,” Musk posted on X. Grok is intended to rival ChatGPT, an AI chatbot released to the public by its maker OpenAI last November to much fanfare. Musk has previously expressed concerns about the speed of development of AI, and the technology’s potential to fundamentally change human society for the worse.

The document also reveals that the Cybertruck, like other electric trucks, will be heavy. In Tesla vehicles, as in most electric vehicles, all-wheel-drive is created by having one or two motors driving the front wheels and one or two driving the back wheels. Because of their heavy battery packs, electric trucks tend to weigh more than gas-powered trucks, adding as much as 2,000 pounds to their GVWR. When Tesla first unveiled the Cybertruck in late 2019, no other automakers offered electric trucks on the market. Various automakers have recently had to offered discounts on their electric vehicles to help clear backlogs of unsold EVs on dealer lots.

But the Israel-Hamas war has underscored how the platform now transformed into X has become not only unreliable but is actively promoting falsehoods. “People are desperate for information and social media context may actively interfere with people’s ability to distinguish fact from fiction,” said Gordon Pennycook, an associate professor of psychology at Cornell University who studies misinformation. But then two days beforehand Musk raised "several spurious objections" and told the SEC he would not appear, the SEC said. According to the filing, Musk has given the SEC documents relating to the probe and has previously provided testimony in July last year via video conference.
